Unarmed Security Guard - Montgomery County - Maryland Judiciary
The
security guard duties required for each classification level shall include but
not be limited to the following: Basic site monitoring, perimeter survey,
public information assistance, holds a single post, and emergency notification
and assistance.
A.
Requirements and Responsibilities
A.1
The Contractor’s
security guard(s) must be at least 21 years of age.
A.2
The Contractor’s
security guard(s) must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
A.3
The Contractor shall provide security guard(s) that are physically capable of
performing duties required for proper security to ensure that all necessary
precautionary measures are taken to protect people and property in accordance
with the following:
1) Security guard(s) must be
physically and mentally sound;
2) Security guard(s) must be able
to climb stairs;
3) Security guard(s) must be free
of any serious hearing impairment and must have good visual capacity;
4) Security guard(s) must be
capable of exercising judgment and acting quickly in an emergency; and
5) Security guard(s) must always
conduct themselves in a professional manner while on duty.
6) Assisting bailiffs in
maintaining order and security, and being professional, courteous, and
respectful when interacting with Judges, employees, bailiffs, and visitors
while at the front door and in courtrooms.
7) Arriving on time, completely
outfitted, and ready for duty.
8) Adhering to the Maryland
Judiciary policy to maintain confidential judicial data.
9) Assisting in inspection of
interior and exterior of building.
10) Completing building inspection
report.
11) Assisting bailiffs at entrance
scanner.
12) Patrolling halls throughout
buildings.
13) Monitoring for suspicious items
or activities.
14) Responding to calls for
assistance, as needed.
15) Providing breaks/relief to
security staff in all areas.
(11) Monitoring parking garage and
employee entrance/exit.
(12) Assisting judges as they enter
and exit.
(13) Escorting judges through
public areas to chambers.
(14) Assisting litigants outside of
the courtroom.
A.4
The Contractor’s
security guard(s) must be of such temperament and maturity that they shall be able to function under physical
threats and verbal abuse without taking such behavior personally.
A.5
The Contractor’s
security guard(s) must
be polite, respectful, patient, understanding, able to adapt to challenging
situations, and able to treat the public in a courteous and effective manner.
A.6
The Contractor’s
security guard(s) must have the ability to effectively communicate, read, and understand instructions in the
English language.
B. Qualifications
B.1 Two
(2) years’ experience providing general security guard services preferred.
B.2 Security
licenses preferred.

Training
C.1 All EEO training (Inclusion, Diversity,
Harassment, etc.)
C.2 All training required by the Director of
Human Resources
C.3 Any other training mandated by the
company

Compensation
D.1 $17.15/hour
E.
Available Hours
E.1 Monday-Friday:
8am – 5pm
